Wilson Louis: LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT is a true horror story
36 year old film maker Wilson Louis is at an interesting phase of his career.
Even though his debut big screen debut took quite a while to happen (HO SAKTA HAI continued to get pushed for number of months before finally hitting the screens), Wilson now has two of his films ready to be unleashed. These are LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT and KAALO. Incidentally, just like HO SAKTA HAI, both LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT and KAALO are horror thrillers as well.
Talking about LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT, Wilson says excitedly, 'Writing and directing the film was a very interesting experience since it is based on a true story. The film is based on a haunted villa which is more than 100 years old. Legend has it that a couple was slaughtered in this villa and their souls are still wandering out there.'
Can he elaborate further? 'Well, this is the story of a British couple in the times when Brits ruled India. This couple was attacked by a group of villagers and while the girl was raped and killed, her husband was thrown out. Ever since then, their souls continue to torment this area.'
This indeed sounds scary. So how is he looking at getting the chill effect on?
'Shooting a film on its true location always results in that extra something on the screen', explains Wilson, 'Since this villa is a haunted place, the creepy feel is naturally going to come in. Moreover, the entire film has been shot in night which adds on to the scare factor. I love things which are supernatural and try to explore the maximum I can through my camera. Also sound plays a very important role, especially in a horror flick. By bringing all these technical aspects together, I have been able to get the right mood in place for LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT.'
A film spanning 120 minutes, LONAVALA KHANDALA GHAT stars Lydia from UK and Jack Coffins from US as the prime protagonists. The film also stars Elina from Russia, Vaibhav Jhalani, Shyam Mashalkar, Tarun Mehta, Parno Mittra, Nilesh Divekar, and Jaywant Wadkar.
