Jumanji: The Next Level movie review: A pleasing piece of fun & adventure

JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL review is here. The fantasy adventure comedy stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser'Darius Blain, and Madison Iseman, reprising their roles from the previous film, alongside newcomers Awkwafina, Danny Glover, and Danny DeVito.

Directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Kasdan, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL is the second sequel to 1995's JUMANJI, following 2017's JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, and the third installment of the JUMANJI franchise. The movie is schedule to release on December 13, 2019. Does it takes the adventure to the next level?!. Let’s find out in the movie review of JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL.

Immediate reaction when the end credits roll
Do you wanna have some piece of fun in this crazy jungle game avatar then well you are guaranteed for some blast if not the explosive sweep that last.

In the next level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect.

In 2017 JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE brought some unexpected surprises and it was thoroughly entertaining as well. It took 22 years for the makers to come with a sequel in 2017 and the awesome response to the 2017 version made it obvious for the studio to make a follow up to cash on its extended base.

So by ‘heart’ JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL is the lost brother of JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE with a new villain and a new mission.

The additions of veterans like Eddie (Danny DeVito) and his friend Milo (Danny Glover) add to the fun. Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan are fantastic. The chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart is something to look out for. Jack Black is entertaining and Karen Gillan is fine.

Director Jake Kasdan goes more ambitious in the theme and shows his mastery in managing the strong ensemble cast and milking their best qualities for the desirable effect. The switching of bodies is hilarious.

Jake Kasdan makes sure that JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL is safe and harmless for the studio and it’s the diehard fans.

Yes, its escapism without the opium, fantasia but some logic was needed to explain how on earth JUMANJI – a vintage two-decade-year-old video game locked in a briefcase can get started without any hitch and it can be upgraded as well. It’s the wonderful cast that makes up for the glaring flaws like one dimension villain, a solid reason for Spencer to get back into the game. No backup story for the villain. After a while, it feels like JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL is just another follow up designed to cash on its previous achievements and fan base.

Final words
JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL isn,t specifically the next level in its series.  It somehow manages to ‘save’ the spirit of the franchise by having its ‘heart’ at the right place while the mind relaxes in the jungle enjoying the fun, fully aware of the fact that those who have seen t JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE two years back, won,t be disappointed at least.
