They also received the "Top Social Artist" and "Top Tour of the Year" awards besting Elton John, Pink, and Ariana Grande.

BTS became the first group to score three number one albums in less than a year beating The Beatles.

Many fans missed the group in this year’s AMAs, as the boy band couldn't attend the awards night to accept the awards in person. The band thanked their fans for all the support via a video message. They also assured that they will strive harder to make great music.

In the video message, played out at the AMAs, the band said, "Thank you so much. We are really honoured to receive such an important and meaningful award. BTS has been a group for six and a half years and, throughout those years, we've had so many of our dreams somehow manifest into reality and Army, you guys are the ones who make all this possible and we really couldn't have done it without your love and support from all over the world."
