Dwayne Johnson announced on Wednesday, that he and his family have tested positive for Covid-19.
The former WWE superstar, who is now the world’s highest-paid actor, said that he, his wife Lauren Hashian, and his two youngest daughters, Jasmine and Tiana, have all contracted Covid-19.
Dwayne Johnson, 48, said Jasmine, four, and two-year-old Tiana have been experiencing “a little sore throat” but no other symptoms, however, he and wife Lauren Hashian had a “rough go”, reports Standard.co.uk.
He also revealed that he and his family caught the virus from “very close friends” despite being “very disciplined” about health protection.
The Fast & Furious star announced the news overnight in an Instagram video, confirming he has recovered from the illness while urging fans to take the threat seriously.
“I can tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we’ve ever had to endure as a family,” Dwayne Johnson said in the Instagram video.
“I’ve gone through some doozies in the past, I’ve got my ass kicked with some challenges in the past but testing positive for COVID-19 is much different than overcoming nasty injuries, or being evicted, or even being broke, which I have been more than a few times.”
He continued, “The reason I feel that way is because my number one priority is to always protect my family, my children and my loved ones.
“I wish it was only me that had tested positive but it wasn’t, it was my entire family… but I am happy to tell you guys that our family is good and that we are at the other end of it, we are on the other side. We are no longer contagious,” Dwayne Johnson added further.
“We have got through Covid-19 stronger and healthier and I am counting my blessings as we all have to fight this thing.”
Adding a caption to the video, Dwayne Johnson advised fans to stay healthy in order to maximise the body’s defences against illness and urged people to wear a mask.
He wrote in a list form: “My message to all of you around the [Planet Earth emoji].”
“Stay disciplined. Boost your immune system. Commit to wellness. Wear your mask. Protect your family.
“Be strict about having people over your house or gatherings. Stay positive. And care for your fellow human beings.”
“Stay healthy, my friends. #controlthecontrollables”
Meanwhile, Johnson recently bought the XFL sports franchise alongside his ex-wife Dany Garcia. On the acting front, he will be next seen in the superhero film ‘Black Adam’.
