The "Like a Virgin" singer took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce that she has canceled her upcoming shows. "Please forgive this unexpected turn of events," Madonna wrote. "Doing my show every night brings me so much joy and to cancel is a kind of punishment for me, but the pain I’m in right now is overwhelming and I must rest and follow doctor’s orders so I can come back stronger and better and continue the Madame X journey with all of you," she added further.
According to Madonna's website, the shows were set for Saturday through Monday as the singer was on a tight touring schedule, and hence they were not able to be rescheduled.
This is not the first time the pop icon has had to cancel a performance due to health issues. A day before the cancellation, Madonna had posted that she was taking her daily ice bath as she suffered multiple injuries.
Last month, the singer alerted fans on social media about the cancellation of her October 7th show at BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in New York, citing a knee injury.
