‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ has added some extra star power to its star-studded cast.
A new report by Cnet suggests that Matt Damon has been roped in to star in the upcoming Marvel Studios film.
‘The Bourne Identity’ star, who made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a small cameo in 2017’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ recently sparked rumors of a possible role in the God of Thunder’s fourth installment after he shared his excitement about filming in Australia, per Hypebeast.
“I’m so excited that my family and I will be able to call Australia home for the next few months,” the 50-year-old said during an interview with The DailyMail.
“Australian film crews are world renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it.”
According to the publication, Matt Damon and his family arrived in Sydney, Australia on Saturday and are currently quarantining for 14 days before shooting begins.
It’s still unclear what role will Damon portray in the forthcoming blockbuster unless he’s playing another cameo in it. The news comes after ‘The Dark Knight’ star Christian Bale recently joined the ‘Thor’ franchise as the new supervillain Gorr the God Butcher.
‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is directed by Taika Waititi and sees Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman reprise their roles as the beloved God of Thunder and Jane Foster respectively.
The film is currently slated to release on May 6, 2022.
