Miley Cyrus who has been known for her memorable, jaw-dropping awards show performances, performed her latest single ‘Midnight Sky’ at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
Channeling the track’s self-directed music video, the Wrecking Ball singer sang the song in a spare room equipped with a brightly lit circular stage. As she sang, the simple set turned bright red and then blue.
At the end of her performance, Cyrus climbed a flight of stairs leading to a swinging giant disco ball.
Dressed in a simple black and white silhouette, Miley Cyrus recreated her ‘Wrecking Ball’ music video by swinging on the disco ball at the end of her performance.
Miley Cyrus has previously hosted the Video Music Awards five years ago. She rocked the 2019 VMAs ceremony with her heart-wrenching single ‘Slide Away,’ which dropped in August 2019.
Following her gig, Cyrus collaborated with Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey for ‘Don’t Call Me Angel,’ released off the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack, reports RollingStone.
At this year’s Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus has been nominated for two awards: Best Art Direction and Best Editing, both for ‘Mother’s Daughter’ video.
