The 26-year-old rapper dropped the much-hyped song ‘Back To The Streets’ on Friday, which sees her teamed up with the Grammy Award-nominated artist Jhene Aiko.
Produced by Timbaland, the tracks kicks off with some smooth piano chords and a bouncing baseline.
Both the singers took their respective social media accounts to announce the song’s arrival, with Saweetie sharing a more personal note. “I’m up early!!!!!! Feels like the first day of school,” the rapper began her announcement. “I’m hella excited this my new back yard boogie imma be 2 steppin all weekend !!!!” she noted, adding, “TONIGHT #BACKTOTHESTREETS IKDR !!!!”
The imminent new single comes as Saweetie prepares to release her highly anticipated debut album, Pretty Bitch Music.
Speaking about the new project Saweetie explained its inspiration and the overall message of the ‘Pretty Bitch’ movement during an interview with HypeBae.
“The key inspirations behind my new album was being a boss, getting money, loving my family, talking about them more, and also just exploring my Filipino roots again,” she said to the publication.
“The ‘Pretty Bitch’ movement came about when I started the ‘pretty girl tap in’ on Twitter. I really like that different types of boys and girls who look different were all tapping in because beauty is unique. We should not all be looking alike but on social media, a lot of people are starting to look alike. We need to celebrate our differences.”
Prior to ‘Back To The Streets,’ Saweetie delivered hit singles like ‘Money Mouf’ with Tyga and YG, ‘Bussin 2.0’ featuring Tay Money, and ‘Tap In,’ which climbed to the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100, reports Revolt.
