Taylor Swift has issued a lengthy statement claiming that Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta have blocked her from using and performing her own songs since the pair controversially bought her back catalogue earlier this year.
Swift in the statement, alleged Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun were blocking her from performing a medley of her songs at the ceremony. singer has been embroiled in a row with music manager Braun since his company purchased her former record label – Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) – earlier this year, which includes the ownership of her first six records from her 2006 self-titled debut album through to 2017’s ‘Reputation’.
The singer-songwriter posted a lengthy statement over her social media, claiming that Borchetta and Braun have blocked her from performing her old songs on TV after she hoped to play the songs at the upcoming AMA Awards and in a Netflix documentary.
She also accused them that they had told her team, she would only be allowed to use her old music, including popular tracks like Shake It Off and 22, if she agreed not to re-record it all.
Swift left Big Machine Label Group last year and later signed with Universal Music Group (UMG) to secure ownership of future work. She had previously announced her intention to re-record her previous hits to gain the copyright to those tracks too.
