When speaking to Billboard, Mai gushed about working with Usher.
"I’m still trying to take it in. I’m still reading in my notes where it says, ‘Usher featuring Ella Mai’, she said. "The day after I got back from tour, I went in the studio with him. It was great energy. It made no sense, he was super-excited for me to be there. I’m like, ‘You know you’re Usher, right?'"
The song is being produced by Bryan-Michael Cox and Jermaine Dupri. The song follows on from Usher’s 2018 collaborative album A and the solo Hard II Love which was released in 2016.
