Apart from the fact that TAARE ZAMEEN PAR would mark the official debut of Aamir Khan as a director, it would also set into the agenda the way to deal with children with differential abilities in particular and with children per se in general. In the mad melee to grab a career, and to see the children as the alter ego for whatever has not been achieved by the parents, effervescence of childhood has been burdened by the burden of expectations. TAARE ZAMEEN PAR seems to be focusing on this specific agenda and trying to bring it into discussion and trigger an element of introspection into the minds of modern parents.

While childhood has been a theme, which has been dealt with, with great deal of sensitivity the issue of child with dyslexia has not been dealt in the same sensitive manner. It was taken up in a passing manner in KAHO NA PYAAR HAI, where the attitude of the society against a dyslexic child found its expression from of all the persons a teacher, and could that be the reason why Aamir Khan has become a teacher in this film, to set the agenda for the teachers to deal with this issue with much compassion.

Aamir Khan has delivered quite a lot of hit films where children have a major role to play, and his successful films like HUM HAIN RAHEE PYAAR KE, RAJA HINDUSTANI, FANNAH etc., are an ample testimony to the fact that Aamir is able to develop an instantaneous rapport with the audience through the children.

Disability as a theme, especially among the children has been used to bring out the tears and score a hit with the Hindi films for quite a long time. It all started with DOSTI, JAAGTE RAHO, followed by KOSHISH, KITAB, SPARSH, NAACHE MAYURI, ANJALI, BLACK, and MAIN AISA HI HOON etc. Children as a category have been intelligently used and it has been widely accepted by the audience world over, and even a director of the caliber of Steven Spielberg does not hesitate to revisit the theme involving children to score hits. He has proved it time and again since E.T. Hollywood as a matter of fact keeps on picking up one issue or the other relating to children and scores hits on a regular basis, after all every adult has a child in his heart and it just needs kindling of the emotions, and walk down the memory lane of childhood is done through these films.

The issue of economics is getting associated with TAARE ZAMEEN PAR as there are reports that the multiplex owners want their pound of flesh from the film and a give and take is already on about sharing of the revenue in the first week. If the issue is not resolved before the film releases, it would be a loss for the multiplex going audience, who incidentally is more at a loss about bringing up their children in the present times, where they are not able to deal sensitively with the children. The stars should come to the ground, as then we would be able to understand the value of the stars that we have in our homes, and whom we are not giving time to handle them in a starred manner.
