View AAP KA SURROR Special Screening - Picture GalleryIf the initial response to AAP KAA SURROOR is to be taken into account, then it has been able to change the trend of the industry. This is because after a long time here are the actors, who without having any vestigial links to the families of the industry have been able to withstand competition and make a mark for themselves. Credit is due more for the reason, as this movie is in direct confrontation with APNE, which is a movie that represents one of the biggest families of the industries.

Hindi film Industry were one to analyze it would be characterized by the fact that it is becoming more of a platform where the relatives or the sons or the daughters or the relatives are being promoted, and the encouragement to a new talent, not having any connections in any manner with any industry people is a thing of the past. In the long and illustrious line that started with Dilip Kumar, and prospered when Dharmendra and Jeetendra made debut, there was a clear opportunity even for the outsiders to try out their luck in the industry. This trend however, dried up and the present generation is dominated by the stars, which have an association of a generation with the industry. Akshay Kumar would probably be the only exception who does not have a lineage from the past to wear it on his shoulder. This trend is more so pronounced in case of male actors, and in the category of female actors as well, it has started making its presence felt during the last couple of years.

In the list of new faces in the female category that are going to hit the marquee within a year, most of them are those who have one link or the other in one form or the other to trace with the industry or celebrity parenthood include Sonam Kapoor, Neha Oberoi, Sonia Mehra (daughter of Vinod Mehra), Anjoli Alagh (Maya and Sunil Alagh's daughter), Sana Panscholi (Aditya and Zarina Panscholi's daughter), Narmada (Govinda's daughter), Amrita Mangat (Kumar Mangat's daughter) and Deepika Padukone (Prakash Padukone's daughter).

From this list it would be evident that all of them have in one form or the other links with the industry in the past, or they are the children of celebrities, which has paved the way for them to carve a career for launch. Hansika Motwani stands out in that respect, as she does not belong to the industry but for the fact that she was a child artist.

The success is more so sweet, as after Kishore Kumar here is a singer who after making a mark as a singer has tried to test his mettle in acting and has been able to make a mark. The success is sweetened also by the fact that his predecessor Sonu Nigam could not do anything substantial at the box office after he made his debut, and in the bargain also suffered few hiccups in his singing career as well.

For the industry which is grudging in accepting a rank outsider in its fold, probably owing to the economics involved, and it being the deciding factor, there is a considered view to place the bet on the family member, as if the member attains success then an in-house star is made available for future projects. But the history does not support this claim, as the actors with a family background, if not possessing talent inspite of having author backed roles, and all the backing of the market acumen are not able to make a mark. Probably AAP KAA SURROOR could start a new trend and we may see more of Jeetendras, Dharmendras etc., who would set the box office on fire. That is how industry functions and survives, and ultimately it has to veneer around to this view. From this count AAP KAA SURROOR could be a watershed film.
