View SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA Premiere - Picture GalleryThe role that Vivek Oberoi etched in SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA has earned him encomiums and has drawn comparisons with the role that he did in COMPANY. This is the second time when he has played the role of a gangster that he has come out with flying colours. Though a SAATHIYA came in between, he has otherwise been oscillating between moderate hits and flops. The short point of the argument is that the panache that Vivek has brought into the performance has a legacy of the past, being traced to his father, and it is in the genes so to say. That is, the second-generation actors when they step into the limelight, as they are compared against the images that their parents have established for themselves, tend to attain success in the kind of films/roles, which there parents have done in the past.

The other celebrity example is that of Kiran Kumar, who started his career as a hero, but went back into oblivion, and after being resurrected by N Chandra as a villain in TEZAAB never looked back for work. There are examples galore of the second-generation actors, consciously or by fortitude veneering towards the Download Munnabhai MBBS Wallpapersimage that there parent(s) have cultivated for themselves. For example Sanjay Dutt, of his olden days and the role that he is playing now, are at a sub conscious level extension of roles that his father Sunil Dutt played. Sunil Dutt had got the maximum accolades for the roles of a simpleton that he played, and a new lease of life was awarded to Sanjay Dutt when he enacted MUNNABAHI series.

This could also be the reason why the star fathers consciously or sub-consciously try to launch their children, as they want to remind the audience about the roles that they have played in the past, and present their children as extension of the role in the present. Feroze Khan has been sub consciously doing the same with Fardeen Khan. It also happens that if the celebrity father has two three children, then the children adapt to one or the other streaks as their benchmarks e.g. Randhir Kapoor was a perfectionist in enacting the simpleton roles, which were hallmark of Raj Kapoor of his earlier days, while his romantic side was relived with perfection by Rishi Kapoor, and Chimpu fell some way in between, trying to balance two diversities. It would be interesting to watch whether Ranbir Kapoor be able to rekindle the aura of romance that View Sarkar Movie Stillshis celebrity parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor did on the screen for so many number of years. The same happened in the case of Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, where Sunny unconsciously picked up the streak of action that Dharmendra came to specialize in, while Bobby the softer romantic and comical side. Abhishek Bachchan is also unconsciously bringing in the striking resemblances to the second innings that Amitabh Bachchan played, with a streak of comedy a gift from Jaya Bachchan.

But this also proves to be a double edged sword, if the image is very strait jacketed, as happened in the case of Kumar Gaurav, who could not relive the magic of Rajendra Jubilee Kumar, or that of Kunal Goswami for whom it became a really difficult proposition to become a second generation Bharat Kumar.

It is not that this phenomenon is a specialty for Hindi film industry, it has striking parallels in Hollywood as well, and the most celebrity example of this would be Michael Douglas. But it does not have that streak of continuity as it is in India, owing to the professionalism that studio systems have established. In the end, genes help, and they gravitate the actors to their destiny with a fortuitous smile.
