HISSS the film on snake woman with Mallika Sehrawat in the lead role is going to hit the screens in short time. It indeed would be an opportune moment to analyze the films made in Hindi where the female actors have either morphed into a snake or have been demonized on account of having such powers. It also is an interesting matter that the male so far has never converted into a snake either to claim his love or seek revenge. The revenge of a love lost seems to be requiem that has been made the prerogative of female actors of the Indian cinema.

It was the first film in which the bean was used as the clarion symbol by the music director Hemant Kumar and it was a film that was seeped in the folklore and tribal ethos. It was also the film from which this instrument came to be established as the signature instrument of a snake. As it was the first film probably it did not dwell into the transformation aspect but it did give the lead for others to follow.
