Internet has reached 40 years of age and it is the benchmark from where one starts contemplation and reorienting the attitude towards life. But if it is viewed in the context of the Internet, then it is the threshold time when the Internet is going to take massive leap and become more user content driven and user choice defined. It is more so true in the case of the entertainment industry. It is one industry, whose happenings bring curiosity in most of us; we like to be apprised on an hourly basis about happening in our stars life. From that perspective, Internet has indeed revolutionized the business of entertainment, as it has become ultra democratic.

Particularly during the last five ten years quite a lot of obituaries have been written about the entertainment related niche magazines, and India is no exception. Be it fashion magazines, or film related magazines, they all have fallen mightily before the might of humble digital efforts proliferating on the web. The ability to interact in a real time basis to a scenario unfolding about a persona related to entertainment industry for the average viewer which Internet has facilitated and the print versions did not allow, has been the primary catalytic factor for pushing the print versions of magazines to a situation of penury.

Before the advent of the Internet who would have thought that a star would be interacting with his fans by writing personal columns, or that a launch of a new film, or music release would be announced on the web. It has happened, and it has emerged as one of the most potent forms of connect with the fans and the personal communication that stars are having with the fans is creating a kind of fan following that could not have been in the horizon when Internet was still evolving.

For those aficionados who think out of the box and try to present their ideas, the advent of Internet has been the Manna from the heaven, as it has provided them the opportunity to build up their fan base and ensure a decent reception to the products that they are slogging on. Besides, it has led to development of scores of websites catering to niche audience, dealing with one special segment of entertainment sector, or the niche in the business of entertainment has become more pronounced after the advent of the Internet.

Who would have thought that one could load a movie of one's own choice, or a song that is not available in record shops. But Internet has made it possible and has given a new lease of life to quality movie viewing from around the world. Even the progress of movie is also uploaded on a regular basis, to keep the audience hooked to the cinematic content. It is the advent of Internet that could also mean the critics would now not have much value in terms of reviewing the film, as the fans have become film reviewers themselves. No wonder, the filmmakers want to convert them into a community and used them as a veritable information dissemination platform about the different aspects of the film.

The day is not far off when a film would debut on Internet. As it is, the collection from the box office are also being compiled and put upon the web, so the fan could decide on his own whether the film is hit or not. It is owing to this that now the filmmakers are also very conscious about displaying the collection figures. The day is not far-of when a film is released from Internet. The way technology is evolving business of entertainment is not going to be the same again.
