In the modern context SHABRI would be the first film in all probability that would showcase and document the story of a slum lord and a lady gangster on the silver screen. Isha Koppikar as SHABRI travels around with a pistol in her hand and is a mean killer. While SHABRI may be a cinematic representation of the lady gangster in Hindi cinema, Hindi cinema has portrayed lady characters as gangsters for quite a long time. With release of SHABRI just round the corner, it indeed is an opportune moment to revisit the films where a lady has played the role of a gangster or a dacoit.

CHAMBAL KI KASAM: Along with Raj Kumar it was for the last time that Maushmi Chatterjee played the role of a dacoit, and its song, Simtee hui ye ghadiyan, still is one of the most romantic duets sung by Mohd. Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar. The song has the distinction of being among the longest songs in Hindi cinema.
