Slated for release next week is a seemingly gun, muscles and songs film -- "Bardaasht". Directed by E. Niwas the film stars Bobby Deol, Ritesh Deshmukh, Lara Dutta and Tara Sharma.
All concerned are in desperate need of a miracle. Niwas' last film "Dum" with Vivek Oberoi was a flop and Bobby has been floundering in nearly all his last few films.
The film, however, may sail through riding on the upbeat box-office mood on account of the commercial success of Mukesh Bhatt's "Murder" that opened to full houses all over the country and "Masti".
The Mallika Sherawat film made on a shoestring budget of Rs.20-30 million is a hit. Also, Indra Kumar's fun-filled entertainer "Masti" got off to a bumper start.
Besides, with the general election around the corner, the Maharashtra cinema hall owners have cut a good deal with state authorities. Single-screen theatres in Maharashtra that downed shutters from March 19 called off their closure April 6 after the government reduced entertainment duty. It also hiked service charges according to assurances given to the exhibition industry in the state earlier.
