1984 riots relived in new movie

A new film has revisited the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi through the eyes of a young orphan girl played by national award winning actress Konkona Sen.

The film "Amu" was screened Monday night at the India Habitat Centre here.

"I wanted to make this film because even 20 years after the riots, no one has been punished," director Shonali Bose said.

Bose was a student of history at the Miranda House College when the riots took place. She now lives in Los Angeles.

"I'm hoping that through this film, some justice would be done," Bose said.

Sen said: I really liked the script. It touched a chord. It really moved me."
