The Best Film award at the Durban Film Festival this year went to Partho Sen Gupta's debut feature film "Let the Wind Blow - Hava Aney Dey" for its outstanding cinematographic work with special regard to its prolific visualisation.

"Let the Wind Blow -- Hava Aney Dey" was the only Indian feature film to be selected in the main competition section of the 25th Durban International Film Festival held from June 19-27.

Partho and his maiden feature film have been making news all over the globe. The film had been selected for the Berlin International Film Festival 2004 held in February, after which it was selected for the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

The film won the Special Jury Award at Hong Kong followed by the BBC Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the Commonwealth Film Festival in Manchester. Partho has also been selected for the Young Directors Programme of the Cannes Film Festival 2004.

"I was very surprised to see my film in the competition section of the Durban International Film Festival. It was among 19 very important and award-winning international films, pitted against Iranian director Jafar Panahi and Brazilian Hector Babenco, among others," Partho told IANS.

"And at the award ceremony, the international jury announced the Best Film Award for my film! I couldn't believe my ears!

"I felt very proud that my film was recognised and appreciated in an international forum," he said.
