The show "Ek Shaam Rafi Ke Naam" is entering its silver jubilee year this week, when the music world commemorates the legendary singer Mohammed Rafi's 24th death anniversary.
The show started in 1980 when Rafi was alive and got the title registered with Tamasha Board. The singer was a special invitee to the first show. Mimicry artiste Manukh Jariwala has been running the show since then.
"The main motive of the event was to pay tribute to Rafi and keep his memory alive as well as to give a platform to new talent," said Jariwala. The show has given a platform to singers like Shabbir Kumar, Milan Singh and Falguni Pathak.
"I have been a great fan and admirer of Rafi's and was privileged to have met him. He was a gem of a person, an ideal human being. People like Rafi are born once in centuries," he added.
