Fifth arrest in Nadia Khan case
Police Friday arrested a railway official for alleged complicity in the death of Pakistani British filmmaker Nadia Khan during the shooting of a Bollywood movie here in May.
Gopalan Ashokan, was in charge of the Mahalaxmi railway station where Khan was killed in May after being hit by a suburban train on May 25 during the filming of a movie directed by Kaizad Gustad.
Ashokan was, however, immediately released as he had secured anticipatory bail in the case.
"Gopalan Ashokan was arrested for connivance, as he did not report the accident to the police although he was on duty that day," a police officer said.
He is the fifth person to be charged in the case.
Gustad, his assistants Ashish Udeshi and Hardley D'Mello, and constable Darshana Vaity of the Government Railway Police were arrested earlier.
While Vaity was granted bail on a bond of Rs.6,000, Gustad and the other two were granted bail by the Mumbai High Court June 28 after having failed to have got bail from a railway court and the sessions court.
Khan, 27, was killed during the shooting of the movie "Mumbai Central".
