Bollywood actor Sunny Deol is to move the Patna High Court for bail in a case in which he is charged with failing to return Rs.2 million he had taken against distribution rights for a movie.
A sessions court in Vaishali has rejected his plea for anticipatory bail and the actor would now move the high court, his lawyer, Amit Srivastava, said Wednesday.
Patna film distributor Arvind Kumar has complained that Deol's Vijeta Film Company had not returned the Rs.2 million it had taken in return for the distribution rights of "Gandhi". The film could not be completed for various reasons and Deol had not returned Kumar's money despite several reminders, the distributor said.
Kumar had filed a police report, after which a court here had issued a non-bailable warrant against Deol May 26.
Deol appealed this but the Vaishali court rejected the plea, saying there was "substantial evidence" against him.
