Hollywood relies heavily on imaging techniques

Download Dev WallpapersWith stunts going bad and set mishaps putting some of the biggest stars out of action, extensive use of special effects (SFX) is being touted as the remedy.

Hollywood relies heavily on imaging techniques for stunts and set creation, points out Andrew Sheldon, Manager (Interactive Systems Division) of Silicon Graphics.

It is surprising the Indian film and television industry has not taken to special effects, given its obvious advantages, he added.

Numerous stuntmen have died while performing daredevil antics.

Amitabh Bachchan is quite verbose in his condemnation of this trend when he says: "No amount of safety precautions are enough. But basic safety rules must be followed. We in the Mumbai film industry survive on love and fresh air. Stuntmen get injured all the time."

In India there is an acute lack of updated technology. Basic concepts like sugar glass and cold fire are unheard of in Bollywood.
