It is fast becoming the order of the day in the industry to make films with international collaboration or have international co-producers. The latest to get on to the bandwagon is producer-director Govind Menon who is negotiating with an international producer for making his next film, an English one based in the West. "It is something that I have been contemplating for a long time. Lest people forget, I completed my graduation in the U.S, with a diploma in filmmaking from Texas University. It is an altogether different market where there are endless possibilities of exploring new subjects. In India we are stuck with the Bollywood format where you have to stick to subjects, record songs and go by the viability of the censors and the market. But the same cannot be said of the films released abroad," says Menon, justifying his decision.
He is however reticent to divulge details of the international project he is planning. "I have just finished the first round of talks with producers. All I can say is that it is an English film shot with international stars."
Will one get to see the no-holds-barred sensuous appeal of Mallika Sherawat in this film too, knowing that she is also doing another international film with Jackie Chan? "Not at all. Mallika need not be a part of every film that I am making," says an amused Menon.
