In keeping with its reputation of acquiring big projects at formidable prices, Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Pvt Ltd has once again surpassed the other distributors in the race by acquiring the Mumbai rights of Keshu's FAMILY, which had a massive launch recently. However Rupen Amlani, Vice-President, Marketing, Ashtavinayak, denied that the price was close to being the highest they had paid last. "All I say is that the price that we paid for MAIN HOON NA, still remains the highest ever price paid for a film so far," Amlani said.
This is the second time that the famous distribution and production house, has acquired a Raj Kumar Santoshi film. Prior to this, it had acquired the rights of RANVEER, but the film could not take off for various reasons.
Amlani also revealed that Ashtavinayak had no regrets about losing out on SWADES, for which it was negotiating until very recently. "We decided to opt out of buying the film because there were issues other than its price which we could not compromise on. Subsequently we decided against buying the rights of the film," he revealed.
Ashtavinayak is now gearing up for its formidable line-up of releases in the coming few months, from the Akshay-Ajay starrer 'Insaaniyat' to Nitin Manmohan's 'Tango Charlie' and 'Dus', Prakash Jha's 'Apaharan' and Feroz Nadiadwala's 'Phir Hera Pheri."
