Writer-director Karan Razdan has re-titled his film EIGHT as JUNOON. According to Razdan, the decision was taken at the insistence of the film's distributors who felt that the masses in the interiors would not be able to identify with the previous title. The supernatural thriller produced by United Dreams Entertainments which marks the comeback of yesteryear actress, Padmini Kolhapure, revolves around a story of after-death experience which Razdan describes as "shocking as much as it capitalizes on philosophy, religion and of course sex and sleaze," the latter two being characteristic features of his films. The film will be Raj Kumar's daughter Vastavikta's first release and also stars Meghna Naidu, Gulshan Grover, new find Raj Tara, among others.
Razdan is unperturbed by the criticism levied against him about exploiting sex in his films. According to him "bold films have become the order of the day and sex sells, which is one of the reasons everyone is capitalizing on it. When you see sexual overtones in films made by reputed banners like DHOOM, you realize that it is indispensable," he says.
The next film he is planning to direct is called, SOUTEN, which will star actress Mahima Chaudhary in the central character. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalized.
