Movie on Indian-African love based on soccer
A movie featuring the bond between an Indian girl and a Zanzibar boy and the power of soccer in bringing people together will be released ahead of the 2006 World Cup, Xinhua reports.
Being filmed in Zanzibar, the movie titled "The Dream of Zanzibar" will convey the message about true love, emotions and the power to fight for one's dreams through soccer, Fabian Gasmia, its line producer, told reporters.
The main characters of the movie are 12-year-old boy Samiha and rich Indian girl Neelesha. The two are good friends, who spend most of their time playing soccer.
Samiha's father wants his son to go fishing and earn money for the family. Neelesha's parents disapprove of their daughter's friendship with the poor boy and want to marry their daughter to a rich man.
To become a true soccer player, Samiha leaves Zanzibar but never forgets Neelesha.
Years later when he hears of the upcoming marriage of Neelesha, Samiha returns to the Indian Ocean island as a famous and rich international player, willing and prepared to fight for his old love.
The making of the movie starts in mid-November on the island and the 90-minute movie will come out in Swahili, Hindi and English versions, all with German subtitles.
