Gurinder Chadha"Bend It like Beckham" director Gurinder Chadha has said she is keen to direct a film on India-Pakistan ties because she traces her roots to the two countries.

"My ancestors are from Jhelum and Rawalpindi, which were both part of India before independence (in 1947) and are now in Pakistan," said Chadha.

"So I have a connection with both countries, which, if I get the right script, I would love to explore," explained the director of last year's big hit "Bend it like Beckham".

Chadha is now in New Delhi to promote her new film "Bride and Prejudice", an adaptation of Jane Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice", made with the flourish and colour of a Bollywood musical extravaganza.
