T Series conducts Anti Piracy raid

Acting on a tip-off, T Series in close association with the Intellectual Property Cell of the Economic Offence Wing, Mumbai Police, raided Stall No 6 at Andheri West Railway Station compound on November 6th 2009 in the jurisdiction of Social Service Branch, Gunhe Branch in Mumbai. The raid was conducted under the supervision of Joint Commissioner of Police (crime branch) Mr. Rakesh Maria and DCP Enforcement Mrs. Sheela Sahil, in the presence of Senior P.I. Peerjade, P.I. Tangad Palli, 2nd P.I. Sahil, Officers PSI Rote, Bansode and 10 police constables. The raid was headed by Mr. Vijay Kamble, HOD, Anti Piracy Cell, T Series and his team comprising of Leon Joseph and D.K. Naik.

Divya Khosla Kumar, Creative Director, T Series says, "We have always been a serious player in this industry and to make music work among the masses, it is important that it makes money for the music companies who invest so much on songs and song picturisations. At T-Series, we spare no-expense and we come down strongly on pirates and those violating the copyright laws. The current matter is subjudice and hence we will not be able to comment on it."

The seized pirated discs were of various latest movies like WANTED, BLUE, MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA, LONDON DREAMS as well as software and MP3 CDs. Six accused-Shakir Sharif Shekh, Deepu Satyadev Pandey, Abdul Rahim Mushtaq Querashi (Guddu), Naeenuddin Mohd. Hussain Turkiya Pathan, Mohd. Mohsein Mohd. Ali Shekh and Sunil Kumar Arjun Prasad Bhadani have been taken into police custody. The accused were booked under sections 51, 52(A), 63, 68(A) of Copyright Act along with sections 292(2) A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for sale of obscene material and section 420 of IPC with a seizure of Hindi film discs numbered 1855, English film discs numbered 2645, Marathi film discs numbered 490, software discs numbered 2040, MP3s Songs CDs numbered 1040, and Porn Movie discs numbered. 490, which make a total nos. 8560 VCDs, DVDs & MP3 CDs with seizure value of Rs. 4,02,000/- (Rupees Four Lakhs and Two Thousand only).
