Ask any Bollywood leading lady and she is bound to have jitters with the very thought of appearing in front of the camera without her make up on. There have been a couple of films where some heroines have claimed to have carried a no make up look. However, the fact remains that there is always a touch here or there, hence negating the claims.

The team of DUS TOLA though was sure that they wanted a totally realistic for their characters. This is the reason why the film's leading lady Aarti Chabria had a clear mandate to wear no make up whatsoever and report straight to the sets for most part of the filming.

"You know, the cinematographer of DUS TOLA didn't allow me any make up at all", says Aarti in mock disappointment, "I used to request him for at least some lipstick but he was very strict. Even if I tried to apply a little effect here or there, he used to ask me to take it off. There are quite a few scenes, especially the ones in the morning, where I am wearing absolutely zero make up. I think all of it really contributed to the authenticity of the character that I portray."

It wasn't just the look that went into making her character believable. For this film which has Manoj Bajpai in the central role, she also went through a few acting workshops prior to the kick start of the actual shoot.

"I worked along with my director to know more about how I walk and talk in the film; the kind of colours that I like etc. etc.", says Aarti, "All of this really helped me to understand the complete psyche of the character that I play in the film"

DUS TOLA releases all over on 22nd October 2010.
