As was expected, Prakash Jha's Amitabh, saif, Manoj and Deepika starrer, AARAKSHAN, opened to a good response, especially at the multiplexes (60-75 percent) with the single screens being lower (25-40 percent). However, the ban in three states - Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh has hit the opening day numbers leading to a loss of about 2-2.50 crores (as per early estimations). But the good thing is that AARAKSHAN is getting a good feedback from the audience, and that will benefit the film in the longer run.

The other release of the week, Vikram Bhatt's Rajneish, Adah and Roshni starrer, PHHIR, started on a dull to decent note of 15- 35 percent, the higher collections coming from the single screens of the Hindi belt. The film has good chances of luring in the target audience that patronizes such films, more so during the holidays.

Given the extended 4-day weekend both AARAKSHAN and even PHHIR are expected to cash in on the festive mood!
