Meri Aawaaz Hi Pehchan Hai...

Lyricist Gulzar has beautifully captured the essence of Lata Mangeskar in this verse. Lata Mangeshkar's Melodious voice is truly her identity that shall remain immortal for generations to come.

On her 84th birthday Glamsham.Com instead of cutting the customary cake, we serve our readers with a menu of some 'Fascinating Facts' that shall widen their knowledge about their favourite singer.

The world knows that Lata is the daughter of Marathi Natya Sangeet Samrat - Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, but few know about her mother - Shuddhamati - who was not a Maharashtrian but a Gujarati! Also their love-marriage had a pinch of emotion attached to it.

According to Lata's sister Meena Mangeshkar - ''Shevanti and Namrata were two Gujarati sisters who were Baba's diehard fan. Of the two, Baba was in love with Namrata but since she was the younger one, hence their family insisted Baba to marry Shevanti at the age of 22, in 1922. Baba married her but tragically she died during delivery. It was later in 1927, baba married again, this time, his first - love, Namrata who was renamed as Shuddhamati and their first off-spring was - Lata, who was born on 28th September 1929.''
