From the time the Film Federation of India (FFI) announced that the Gujarati film THE GOOD ROAD by Gyan Correa is being selected as the official Indian entry to the Oscars, a section from the film industry seems to have indulged into huge debate over the selection.

Mr. Ramesh Sippy, Chairman, NFDC (National Film Development Corporation), has come forth and expressed that it is the Indian Cinema, ultimately, that is making its presence felt in the global arena and being represented at the coveted Academy Awards, in a statement today.

"The journey of Indian Cinema on the global map since recent years has been extremely encouraging and instrumental in positioning not only the Indian film industry but also India as a country with new dimensions. With three diverse and brilliant films, which NFDC proudly associates with, BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG, THE LUNCHBOX, and THE GOOD ROAD, helmed by talented directors, Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, Ritesh Batra, and Gyan Correa, in the running for India's official Oscar selection race, we truly celebrated the Cinemas of India at an international level, having successfully fulfilled our mandate of promoting and supporting Indian Cinema. A unique, small, and beautiful film, we are happy that, THE GOOD ROAD has been selected as India's official entry to the Academy Awards and look forward to the support of the film fraternity of India as also of all Indians in our journey", said, Mr. Ramesh Sippy, Chairman, NFDC (National Film Development Corporation), as an official statement on THE GOOD ROAD, being selected as India's official entry to Oscars 2014.
