Soundarya, who is directing her father, 'Thalaiva' Rajinikanth for the first time in KOCHADAIIYAAN, opens up on her childhood experience of being a superstar's daughter.

''I was born to my dad when he was a superstar and that's the only thing I have known,'' says Soundarya and adds, ''My childhood was great. My father was a very very busy actor. But my mother played an important role as she balanced our upbringing and whatever time my father used to get, she managed to take us on holidays. So, my mother is the reason that my sister and I have our head on our shoulders.''

She further says, ''Growing up every star child gets attention because your father or mother is somebody. But you get used to it and automatically deal with it. Being a star child has its pros and cons. It has tremendous advantages and tremendous disadvantages also. ''

Considering her father's mammoth stardom, ask Soundarya if they had to be always conscious of whatever they did, since their father's image is at stake and she says, ''Yes we have to be conscious of our father's image. Anything and everything we do get blown out of proportion. It's probably tough to be a star child or a star because whatever you do or you don't, it all becomes a topic of discussion amongst public.''

Quiz Soundarya, how does it feel when her father Rajinikanth is looked upon, worshiped as God and according to her what sets him apart from his contemporaries and she says, ''Each person has its own identity and I think what you are saying is what my dad has worked for and what he has lived for. He is worshipped because of the way he is, because he is by far the most honest person and true person that you will ever meet. He is same to you or to anybody else. He is honest to himself and to what he does. He practices what he preaches and that is something I have learnt from him. What separates him from his contemporaries is I believe he has that true identity, he is who he is and what you think of him he is.''

Despite being a huge star and winning copious awards & accolades, a National Award is still missing in Rajinikanth's list of honours. When this point was brought up, his daughter said in a pride tone, ''My father is beyond all that.''

Also starring Deepika Padukone, the music of KOCHADAIIYAAN is composed by A R Rahman. The film is presented by Eros International.
