He zoomed into the cinematic stratosphere as an actor with Ketan Mehta's HOLI (1984), wherein he met  Aamir Khan with whom he had would forge an enduring bond in the times to come.

After showing up in telly-serials and some flicks, Ashutosh served up his directorial debut PEHLA NASHA, which didn't really intoxicate him with its success. BAAZI, his second effort, however, was an average grosser.

Circa 2001, Gowariker and Aamir Khan unveiled their cricket-centric opus LAGAAN, which was crafted under Khan's independent production house: Aamir Khan Productions.

LAGAAN, written and helmed by Gowariker emerged a winner at the cine-stakes. Furthermore, LAGAAN also went on to bag an Oscar nomination under the category of 'Best Foreign Language Film.'

Among his movies, SWADES showcasing Shah Rukh Khan and JODHAA AKBAR that illumined Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the historic opus, fetched him appreciation.

However, WHAT'S YOUR RASHEE (Priyanka Chopra in 12 zodiac-centric roles!) and the Abhishek Bachchan-Deepika Padukone starrer KHELEY HUM JEE JAAN SEY tanked without a trace, denting a chink in his armour.

Director, actor, producer and director: Ashutosh Gowariker, a Maharashtrian Brahmin, is wedded to Sunita (spouse & co-producer ) and the couple have two sons: Konark and Vishwang.

On his b'day (Feb.15), here's wishing Ashutosh Gowariker loads of professional success and a year ahead packed with personal joys...
