Narendra Modi celebrates Lata Mangeshkar's 51 yrs of 'Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon'

BJP's prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat's CM Narendra Modi was here in Mumbai's Mahalaxmi Race course to felicitate legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar and also celebrate the 51st anniversary of melody queen's memorable song 'Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon'.

Lata Mangeshkar had sung the song exactly 51 years ago on January 27, 1963, to remember all the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country, in the presence first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in Delhi, which even moved him to tears.

At the behest of eminent figures present, Lata ji also sang a small portion of the very famous patriotic song ''Ae Mere Vatan Ke Logon'' in front of more than one lakh people.

''When the song was made, I never thought it would become so popular,' Lata didi said at the event.

Actors like Sunny Deol, Suneil Shetty, Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tewari and singers like Preeti-Pinky were also present to mark the celebration
