Ekta Kapoor in a short span of over a decade has proved her mettle in film production; a domain largely dominated my males in India since many years. The undisputed queen of TV soaps and a leading film producer in Bollywood, Ekta Kapoor turns 39 today. Glamsham.Com wishes her birthday greetings and hopes she keeps shining high.

After the legendary Devika Rani, owner of Bombay Talkies and the first lady to make successful films for her production house, Ekta Kapoor is probably the second lady film producer who has efficiently taken her production banners Balaji Telefilms and Balaji Motion Pictures to such a zenith that even her male counterparts awe her fame. However, it was not a cakewalk for the young lady to make a dint in the production sector, particularly in Bollywood.

In an interview she had confessed that when she made her foray in film production in Bollywood she had to face many hurdles and was discouraged but she was not deterred. Giving credit to her mother she said, ''I owe my success to my mother. She handles the finance. Being a housewife she knows how to shrewdly plan everything within economical budget and extract maximum profit.''

She adds, ''Interestingly My mother and I possess no degree in MBA or have a business background but it is just our passion and zeal that has helped us survive.''

Speaking about her most successful film, THE DIRTY PICTURE, that won three Nation Award she said, ''The seeds of the plot were definitely sown by me but I would credit my screenwriter Rajat Arora and director Milan Luthria who did extensive research browsing through several film magazines and extracted minute details about south sensational actress Silk Smitha on whose life the movie was based.''

She adds, ''The real problem began when I started casting as both Kangana Ranaut and Bipasha Basu declined the role, while Vidya Balan, who liked the role kept me on a hold as she wanted to be contented about my director Milan Luthria's capabilities. Hence she insisted that she will give a nod if Milan Luthria's directorial venture ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI does good business at box office. Fortunately the movie was a runaway hit and rest is history.''
