Teri filmon ki namkeen mastiyaan, Teri filmon ki beparwa gustaakhiyaan
Nahi bhoolenge Yash Chopraji  Tumhe… Jab tak hai jaan…

Today on the birth anniversary of ace filmmaker Yash Chopra; Glamsham.Com takes creative liberty and slightly alters the poem Teri aankhon ki namkeen mastiyaan….from the last directorial venture of Yash Chopra’s movie JAB TAK HAI JAAN.

Though Yash Chopra was a specialist in making touching movies on romance and love triangles like DAAG: A POEM OF LOVE, KABHI KABHIE, SILSILA, CHANDNI, DARR, DIL TO PAGAL HAI, VEER ZAARA or his last movie JAB TAK HAI JAAN, he was certified by the media, film critics and film buffs as ‘King Of Romance’ yet Yash Chopra never obliged the compliment.

In fact he countered, “I am against the tagline that labels me “King Of Romance” because I have made films on human relations, and a close look at my movies will reveal that most of them are intricate humane tale be it the emotional twinge of a obedient son sacrificing his love for the aspirations of his father in KABHI KABHIE or the poignant turmoil in a married couple in SILSILA or the obsessed lover’s treacherous tricks to win over a married man’s wife in DARR.”

In fact the younger generation who identifies Yash Copra only with romantic movies would be rather surprised to know that Yash Chopra is perhaps one of the few Bollywood’s director to make Bollywood’s earlier edge of the seat, taut suspense thriller, ITTEFAQ (1969).

The movie was a murder mystery and was shot in mere 20 days by Chopra. The high point of the movie was that unlike Yash Chopra’s other movies which were known for super hit songs and mesmerizing scenic location, ITTEFAQ was song less and was majorly shot in a single bungalow. But it was Yash Chopra’s spellbinding treatment that despite being handicap of commercial elements the movie was super hit and fetched Yash Chopra his second Best Director Filmfare Award. Yash Chopra won his First Filmfare Best Director Award for WAQT (1965)

Besides the movie was Rajesh Khanna’s earlier movie and it won him rave reviews as an exceptional actor. Famous filmmaker Shakti Samanta was quite impressed and he instantaneous signed him for his movie ARADHANA, which made Rajesh Khanna, a star overnight.
