He's one guy who can play the role of a monk and the role of a baddie with equal aplomb. We're talking about the very talented Neeraj Kabi who impressed us in SHIP OF THESEUS and the recently released DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSHY.

So did the film meet his expectations in terms of the response he got for his performance and the overall response of the film?  “Yes, it did. In fact, it went a little beyond that as well. It is a product that is complete in its own and it does not need recognition of the audience. It already made its mark the day we saw it,” says the actor confidently.

Ask him if DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSHY helped him reach more people than SHIP OF THESEUS and he says, “A lot of people have called up. It falls under mainstream. SHIP OF THESEUS still does not fall under mainstream cinema. It was an art house film made for the international market and the festival circuit. DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSHY was a commercial film. Commercial in the sense that it was not made to make 300 crores. It was made for good cinema and good work. It had its commercial value because one has to make money when you invest in a film. So it's a very fair way of making a film. It has its own sensibilities & it's very artistic. It was a different film with different characters. So in that sense it's a mainstream film and it has helped me reach a lot more people than SHIP OF THESEUS. I am very pleasantly surprised to receive calls from all over the country.”

Well, we feel if he continues to act in films like DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSHY, his phone won't stop ringing for sure!
