Riteish Deshmukh is one of the finest actors we have in the industry. He has made the audience, laugh, and cry and also carved a niche for himself when it comes to choice of films that he has done.

From comedy to serious roles he had donned everything with utter perfection.

Riteish's film BANJO released today and the movie surely shares a different concept altogether.

Apart from playing a banjo player, we see Riteish sharing loads of intriguing aspects of the film and also shares his next film CHATRAPATI SHIVAJI along with Salman Khan.

Excerpts from the interview:

What intrigued you to take up a subject like BANJO?
While I was a kid, I learnt to play harmonium. Although I had seen banjo the instrument at home, I didn't know how to play banjo. I learnt it for the film. I had grown my hair to get into the skin of the role.

Tell us something about your character.
I am a banjo player in the movie. How I deal with adversities of life and how I overcome it, is what the film is about. Ravi, the director of the film, has researched a lot about the film. He went to Nagpur wherein he interacted with real banjo players and saw how they roll over the floor to collect money. That is how they earn money. So I play a role which signifies why I am a banjo player and why is it required?

How was it working with Nargis Fakhri?
Nargis comes from abroad and she spots us playing banjo and gives us a stage to perform. While it was fun to work with her, we have a good professional relationship.

Any fond memories while shooting for the film?
Yes there are quite a few. One of them being - I had to put my own inputs in my character. I had to see Nargis's legs and pretend seeing her face. While I actually thought about all the naughty stuff I did when I was in school. I would gaze at my classmates and also crush at teachers.

'Salman decided to give a nod to the film before even reading the script'

Your son danced to the tunes of banjo comment?
Yes, I had not met Riaan from long and Genelia got her on the sets and we were shooting for a song and he came and danced with them.

Can we see Genelia in a movie soon?
I want her to do a Marathi film. When the time is right she will be seen in the movie.

You are coming with two big Marathi projects MAULI and CHATRAPATI SHIVAJI? Elaborate.
It's too early to talk about the movie SHIVAJI as we haven't scripted. I am happy that Salman Khan decided to be part of the movie without even reading the script. He has an extended cameo in the film.
