Manish Jha.. ja ja ja.. it's terribly sad to find the talented Manish Jha (MATRUBHOOMI, ANWAR) suddenly wanting to be the Stephen Chow or Jean-Pierre Jeunet of Bollywood with this unphunny, surreal circus called THE LEGEND OF MICHAEL MISHRA, that irks you to throw the maker in the valley of cactus.

What is THE LEGEND OF MICHAEL MISHRA starring the talented Arshad Warsi, Aditi Rao Hydari and Boman Irani is all about?

Is it the answer to Stephen Chow KUNG FU HUSTLE where anything can happen anytime but it's so amazingly captivating or Jean-Pierre weird, surreal but so enthrallingly beautiful AMELIE? No way it's not even fit to fit in any genre.

What did they eat, drink or smoke while churning this torturetainment in the name of entertainment? God only knows.

This unphunny film opens with a bus carrying tourist (of course foreigners are there) halts at a colorful MMKD (Michael Mishra ka dhaba) somewhere in the land of Bihar. A colorful full pant (Boman Irani) greets them and a debate with the aged professor in the student group leads to a story telling session from full pant about Michael Mishra - a tailor turned king of Kidnappers.

Michael Misra in his childhood after switching jobs from tailor to kidnapper has fallen in love with a singing dancing Patna got talent ki future winner Varsha Shukla (Aditi Rao Hydari).

Faith makes them meet after some years, Misra is the king of kidnappers and Varsha is trying her luck to enter Bollywood through reality shows. In order to win Varsha ('barsaji') heart, Michael goes into the path of redemption by getting himself arrested and saving the jailors life during his trial in the 'kali ghati ka kala pani'.

They meet again after a couple of years but 'barsaji' fails to recognize 'misraji' and what happens after a couple of reels is anybody's guess.

The movie gives a sort of tribute to Dev Anand's GUIDE in one scene (aren't the one who are still alive watching this enough that Manish Jha wants to disturb the peace of the Bollywood's evergreen hero in heaven). An atyachar (torture) to the hilt where we see the Jailor after been saved by Misra is playing mouth organ. Saja-e-maut to such imaginations and creations.

Ironically, the routine Warsi, Boman, Hydari and Kayoze make us belief that some things are normal over here.
