A simple move to end a marriage blows out of proportion on-screen in Kamal Haasan's VISHWAROOP.

Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) has been married for three years to Vishwanath (Kamal Haasan). Wiz, as he is fondly called by his close friends, is a kathak exponent and runs his own dance class in New Jersey, America. Nirupama, bored of her routine life, and her 'absolutely caring' husband wants out. But how does she opt out and still feel good? She decides to hire a detective to find a flaw in Wiz which could prepare the ground for her divorce. On the sly, she is also having a relationship with her boss.

Things get larger than life when the detective innocently stumbles on a conspiracy. He is done away with. A search on him leads the jihadis to Nirupama and Wiz. Both are whisked away and are about to be executed when Wiz's last wish is heeded to by his executers.

From here, Wiz leaps into a new zone to take VISHWAROOP to another level. So who is Wiz? Is he a good man or a bad man? To find out, do book your tickets to this slick fare.

There have been a lot many movies on jihadis and Americans but this one steers clear from the 'done to death' plots with a novel approach. Set in America, it explores the misguided notions of Afghan terrorists.

The sets in Afghanistan are close to real and the action sequences pull you right to where the fighting is. Kamal Haasan is in top form and the entire production has a Hollywood feel to it. Be it the 'hand-to-hand' combat or the aerial bombing, all sequences display high class standards.

Pooja Kumar delivers her part with that rare, goofy charm. Wanting out of the marriage, yet stuck into the very vortex of the situation she has gotten herself into, she tries hard to piece together the pieces of the puzzle. A perfect foil to Wiz.

All the other character actors manage that imposing gait of a jihadi to perfection. The only flaw which I feel takes away from the film is the casting of Rahul Bose. If his role was given to Jaideep Ahlawat, and vice-versa, the terror Jaideep would have infused into his character would have been phenomenal. Rahul tires hard to be that bad man. Neither his gait, nor his personality fit the character he is asked to portray.

The screen-time too is a deterrent. A good 20 minutes chopped would have given it that extra edge. For that, the editor should have used the scissors freely on a few flashback scenes.

On the whole though, this is a well-packaged a flick. A 'must-watch' for action junkies.
