Expectations are huge from the audio of BAADSHAHO, and one just needs a stroll down memory lane for that. Director Milan Luthria and super actor Ajay Devgn have together delighted us with chartbusting, melodious memorable music starting from KACHCHE DHAAGE right up to ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI. So no need to elaborate!

Milan's association with the legendary singer, composer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan dates back to his debut film KACHCHE DHAAGE, which had memorable music by the legend. And this association continues with 'Mere Rashke Qamar', the chartbusting 'qawwali' that has already reached dizzying heights of popularity, such is the addictive charm of the song that captivates one and all . Spellbinding rendition by the legend and nephew, the superlative Rahat Fateh Ali Khan! First song in a long time that has such a strong mass and class appeal.

Tulsi Kumar gets to render the female version of 'Mere Rashke Qamar' which has the master's magical background 'alaaps' and makes for a good repeat hear.

There's a remix version (DJ Chetas) which was not really needed but who minds a second hear of a chartbusting number, despite it being adulterated with added beats and rhythm.

Ankit Tiwari's offering 'Piya More' is a naughty dance track picturized on Sunny Leone and Emraan Hashmi. A hot sensuous 'kotha' number, keeping in mind Sunny and Emraan's image! It has a nice groovy rhythm and a style that is a fusion of retro and contemporary. Neeti Mohun and Mika Singh do full justice with an uninhibited and enthused rendition.

'Socha Hai' is actually a recreated version of R.D Burman's Kishore-Lata rendered 'Kehdoon Tumhein' (DEEWAR), by Tanishk Bagchi with new lyrics (Manoj Muntashir). Even the tune/ rhythm is a bit on the slower side which does not really gel well with the lyrics. Neeti and Jubin render the promotional number, not likely to be featured in the film.

Another version of 'Socha Hai' sounds very similar, to the first, with again the same singers.

An all traditional Rajasthani folk based situational number 'Hoshiyar Rehna' is in keeping with the heist theme of the movie which is set in the desert state. With music and apt lyrics (by Komal Shayan) that are philosophical, the song is rendered by Neeraj Arya's Kabir Cafe and should serve as a background score.

To sum up, the audio of Milan's BAADSHAHO belies expectations as it just piggybanks on one chartbuster, 'Mere Rashke Qamar' (which itself is not an original and one has heard multiple versions before) by Pakistani artist, the late Sufi legend Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Apart from 'Mere Rashka Qamar', only one song catches fancy, 'Piya More'. However the popularity of both the songs should ensure a good initial for BAADSHAHO which is all set to release this Eid-Ul-Azha weekend.
