Director Neeraj Pandey may well be remembered for his highly critically acclaimed and commercially successful films like A WEDNESDAY and SPECIAL 26, but music lovers will surely swear by the superb music in the Akshay Kumar starrer SPECIAL 26. Composer MM Kreem comes back along with the in-form Meet Bros Anjjan for his next venture, BABY, which once again stars Akshay Kumar. Produced by T Series Super Cassettes Industry Ltd, Crouching Tigers Motion Pictures, Cape Of Good Films and A Friday Filmworks, one expects an encore of SPCIAL 26 from BABY. So let's check out their short but sweet joint offering.

Carrying the spirit of the espionage, thriller-drama, BABY, 'Beparwah' is a theme song composed by Meet Bros Anjjan and sung ably by Apeksha Dandekar. The lyrics are just apt and appropriate and succeed in providing a good insight into the film and the characters. The song heightens the curiosity of the audience as well. Actress Esha Gupta has been roped in for the item number.

The 'Beparwah' remix by Mba Swag is well done. The heightened rhythm with beats adds to the tense thriller concept of BABY. Earl Edgar provides apt and interesting rap.

MM Kreem's 'Main Tujhse Pyaar Nahin Karta' with a very simple, straight forward tune tries hard for a 'Naina' encore (SPECIAL 26), which was quite haunting and heart tugging but fails do so. Rendered to perfection by Papon, it's the lyrics which are the best part of the song.

The female version of 'Main Tujhse Pyaar Nahin Karti' is sung well by Ramya Behra and makes for an interesting second hear due to the different lyrics.

To sum up, although the audio of BABY is brief, it falls short of expectations. One must add here that in the first place, BABY was meant to be a unique song-less venture, but with a commercial star like Akshay Kumar as its lead actor, the makers may have thought it proper to add songs. There are only two songs with different versions and one cannot help but say that one expected more from the soundtrack of BABY which would have helped the film open even better on 23rd Jan 2015.
