Madhur Bhandankar films have not really boasted of super hit or memorable music, but one does remember songs from FASHION and DIL TOH BACHCHA HAI JI. His upcoming venture, CALENDAR GIRLS, does give ample scope for composers Meet Bros Anjjan and the promising Amaal Malik to deliver the goods befitting our expectations.

The 'ultimate' beach party dance number 'Awesome Mora Mahiya' is a chartbusting effort by Meet Bros Anjjan and it thrives on groovy beats, lovely techno arrangements and a nice fresh tune transporting one to the fantasy land of bikini clad models. Zesty rendition by Khushboo Grewal with backup vocals by the composers themselves, help the cause further.

Meet Bros come up with another very good attempt, 'We Will Rock The World', an inspirational number that is situational in nature and gives a peak into the ambitions and wishes of the lead protagonists, the Calendar Girls. Khushboo Grewal and Neha Kakkar (and Meet Bros) put up a very spirited show .The song is most likely to feature as a background score.

Amaal Malik continues the party mood with the fun, desi cum western dance number, 'Shaadi Waali Night' and one must commend the young composer for coming up with a very catchy tune which does beckon all to do the 'thumka' . The arrangements are a good fusion of western and Indian and Aditi Singh Sharma does a fine job. The song should prove to be a hit during the marriage season.

Amaal's sombre and slightly pensive, 'Khwahishein', is certainly the pick of the lot and boasts of superb arrangements, lovely fresh tune and nice lyrics and rightly comes in two versions. The rock version is a duet which features the seasoned Arijit Singh and the young and talented Armaan Malik and is a delight to savour. The film version sees just Armaan Malik behind the mike and it's an almost unplugged version with just minimal background music. Armaan does a superb job. The song could prove to be 'Fashion Ka Jalwa' and do for Amaal what 'Jalwa' did for Salim-Sulaiman.

In a nutshell, the audio of CALENDAR GIRLS may just carry four (original) songs, but all of them are really good and in sync with the mood and script of the movie. Both the composers have done a lovely job and our picks are, 'Khwahishein' (both versions) and 'Awesome Mora Mahiya'. The good audio should boost the prospects of the film when it releases all over on 25th September.
