With some memorable as well as chartbusting compositions to the credit of his three films, KUCH NAA KAHO , BLUFFMASTER and DUM MAARO DUM, Rohan Sippy's next, NAUTANKI SAALA, being co-produced by cine-audio giants and millionaire club member (subscribers), T-Series, becomes a highly anticipated venture. The music department is being handled by a host of composers; some fresh and old talents like Falak Shabir, Mikey McCleary, Rashid Khan and above all Laxmikant Pyarelal and Anand-Milind. So let's check out the musical drama that unfolds from the audio of NAUTANKI SAALA!

It's an all-out Falak Shabir show that one comes across first up in 'Mera Mann Kehne Laga', where the highly talented artist showcases his all-round versatility as a singer, lyricist and composer in the superb romantic love ballad. The music arrangements are top notch and all the instruments are played and music is produced by Mikey McCleary.

There is a lovely reprise version programmed by Abhijit Vaghani.

The female version by Tulsi Kumar is well sung and makes for a good hear.

The remixed version by DJ Chetas is nicely handled and makes the number more club and disco friendly.

Next up is 'Saadi Galli Aaja' rendered to impeccable perfection by Ayushmann Khurrana and Neeti Mohan, and is a superb follow up to Ayushmann's super hit number from VICKY DONOR, 'Paani Da Rang'. The song, composed by Ayushmaan Khurrana and Rochak Kohli, has predominantly comprehensible Punjabi lyrics by Ayushmaan Khurrana, Rochak Kolhi and Gurpreet Saini, and will surely touch the same heights of popularity of as 'Paani Da Rang'.

The unplugged version relies on minimal arrangements and Ayushmann and Neeti Mohan's excellent vocals, and is a delight to savour.
The remixed version by DJ Chetas is more dance oriented with lots of added pace and beats, but one prefers the original due to its unadulterated charm.

Madhuri Dixit's iconic Anand-Milind-Sameer dance number 'Dhak Dhak' (BETA) gets a humorous makeover (by Mikey McCleary) with Saba Azad doing the honours, accompanied by backing vocals of Geet Sagar, Bruno Carvalo, Santosh Sawant and Jovian Soans.

Ayushmann Khurrana comes up with another gem of a number, a highly intense passionate love song, 'Tu Hi Tu', that has some absolutely mind blowing lyrics by Kausar Munir, to add to the lovely melody and arrangements. Music has been composed by Mikey McCleary, and this one has chartbuster written all over it!

Mikey McCleary gets to compose the next number as well, which is the situational 'Draamebaaz', sung by Geet Sagar, and is a sort of a theme song that introduces the two main male leads and talks about their antics and escapades as theater artists. Kausar Munir's lyrics are just right for the occasion.

It's Rahat Fateh Ali Khan doing what he does best with 'Sapna Mera Toota', a touching heartbreak number that has a superb fusion of sufi and western in the Rashid Khan composition. Aftab-Hashim Sabri comes in for the superb 'qawwaali' parts, with lovely back up English vocals by Suzzane D'Mello. Excellent!

CHECK OUT: Will NAUTANKI SAALA! break Ayushmann's VICKY DONOR image?

Saba Azad's modulating vocals are a heady mix in the whacky and extremely zany and humorous 'Dil Ki... Toh Lag Gayi', which is a situational Mikey McCleary's composition that talks of heart breaks and girls (lyrics by Kausar Munir) in a very interesting manner and should be fun to watch on screen.
Nostalgia galores as the album comes to a close and the eighties is revisited again with Laxmikant Pyarelal-Javed Akhtar's Nitin Mukesh rendered, 'So Gaya Yeh Jahan' (TEZAAB). The music has been reproduced by Mikey McCleary.

The audio of T-Series' NAUTANKI SAALA is indeed an exhilarating musical experience with just the right blend of all kinds of sounds and arrangements, and has all it takes to emerge as a big success in the audio market. 'Mera Mann Kehne Laga', 'Saadi Galli Aaja', 'Sapna Mera Toota' and 'Tu Hi Tu' are sure shot winners, and they are our favourites as well. The popularity of the album will surely help the film open well when it releases this April.
