A much awaited film, a combination of Bobby Bedi, Mani Ratnam, Yash Raj Films, Shaad Ali, A R Rahman & Gulzar with Vivek Oberoi & Rani Mukherjee as icing on the cake, must make a good film. With A R Rahman and Gulzar, on the face of it the music seems to be quite promising. Let's take up one number at a time and experience whether the album is worth the expectations.

The title song 'Saathiya' is rendered by Sonu Nigam. The song begins on a very good note. A soft song with couple of good beats. The title song is followed by 'Chhalka Chhalka Re'. The song has renditions by Richa Sharma, Mahalaxmi, Vaishali, Shoma. The composition of the song is very live and young. The music definitely requires a mention which is not too slow and not too pacy.

'Aye Udi Udi Udi' is the next song which begins with good piece of bass guitar. The song is rendered by Adnan Sami. Adnan has a different flair of singing and so gives a very different feel with the bass guitars in the background. The lyrics are very interesting. Sadhana Sargam, Murtuza, Qadir have rendered the next number, 'Chupke Se', a beautiful romantic number. Sadhana Sargam has done complete justice to the song. As you reach half way through you are already riding a different horse and you still continue with 'O Humdum Suniyo Re'. The song is beautifully rendered by KayKay, Shaan, Kunal and Pravin Mani. The plus point of the number is definitely the treatment given to the lyrics and the music composition ad the singers have done a praise worthy job.

Suddenly the basic rythm is changed; from a western genre, you are pushed into a punjabi kida song with 'Mera Yaar Mila De'. Well, if A R Rahman is given the job to compose music, he definitely has a song or two to his credit, this number is rendered by Rahman with his distinct touch. The slow music continues but this time with a different kind of hindi, somewhat like bhojpuri. The number is 'Naina Milaike' rendered by sadhana sargam and madhushree.

'Mangalayam' is the next number rendered by kayKay, Shaan, Kunal and Sreenivas. It is kind of a sanskrit shlok with fantastic beats and a very upbeat music. The music gets fast, pacy, and very interesting with 'Chori Pe Chori'. The song helps to keep the tempo high as it is rendered by the hottest singer of all times; Asha Bhosle with Karthik.

All in all, all praises to the music composition by A R Rahman; the music is unique and upbeat. A R Rahman has been successful in creating a different genre of music for his ever increasing list of fans. The lyrics is definitely getting subdued by the exciting music. A must buy for people who love new music editorial
