Actress Nutan's husband dies in Mumbai fire

Rajneesh Behl, husband of well-known Bollywood actress Nutan, was charred to death in a fire that broke out in his home here Wednesday. He was 77.

"The body of Rajneesh Behl, father of actor Mohnish Behl, was found in a badly charred condition almost four hours after the fire broke out on the 31st storey of the Sagar-Sangeet building in Colaba in south Mumbai," a police official said.

"Firemen rescued Mohnish and his wife Ekta but could not save the former naval commander.

"The fire brigade had asked residents of Sagar-Sangeet to evacuate the building but nobody realised that Rajneesh Behl was inside the top-floor flat," the official said.

"The existence of Rajneesh Behl's body became known when fire fighting operations concluded at around 6 a.m. Wednesday."

A.D. Jhandwal, chief fire officer, said: "All the residents of the 120 flats in the building were evacuated except Rajneesh Behl.

Rajneesh Behl's body was sent for a post mortem examination.
