Making a film with an extravagant setting isn't something which is new for Ashutosh Gowariker. He has done that earlier with finesse in LAGAAN as well as JODHAA AKBAR. However, making KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY was an altogether different ballgame for him since not just is it a period thriller but is also about a revolution which has been unheard of.
"It is quite difficult to be actually making a film which belongs to an altogether different world. It always is and can actually get really taxing and strenuous", smiles Ashu (as he is fondly called), "You have to work on two layers to make the film work. One is recreate the entire period gone by, which is always a huge challenge from the production standpoint. Second is to tell the story correctly and appropriately within that world. The trick is to blend these two layers. The entire journey and the stress that comes with it is enjoyable though."

KHELEIN HUM...., an Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone starrer is based on the book 'DO and DIE: The Chittagong Uprising 1930-34' by Manini Chatterjee. The film is set in 1930 when a group of 64 people started a revolution in Chittagong.
"Trust me, it wasn't easy to recreate Chittagong and bring to fore a revolution which has hardly been talked about in the history of India's fight for independence", Gowariker elaborates, "Each time I have done something like this, whether it is LAGAAN or JODHAA AKBAR and now KHELEIN HUM..., there have been obstacles and hurdles. It is never a comfortable space to be in. But then yes, it has always been worth it. The work is done, now it is time for me to relax a little and see how audiences react to hard work that has been put by my team."
Also starring Sikandar Kher and Vishakha Singh, KHELEIN HUM... has music by Sohail Sen and releases all over on 3rd December 2010.
