The coming Friday will witness the release of the comeback vehicle of Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, JAZBAA. The Sanjay Gupta directed JAZBAA will see Aishwarya teaming up with Irrfan Khan, and the film should make a mark, especially at the city multiplexes. The premier release of last week, Akshay-Amy’s SINGH IS BLIING, embarked on a great start with North (especially Delhi-NCR and East Punjab) being excellent. In fact the 20 crore first day is the highest ever for an Akshay Kumar solo. The film ended the first weekend netting 50 crore from India. Having said that SINGH IS BLIING has not seen a good trend during the weekdays, which is not a good sign. The Prabhu Dheva directed SINGH IS BLIING has done very well in the Overseas grossing $2.50m with £195,000 from UK and $490,000 from the US, during the opening weekend (2-4 October).

The other release of last Friday, Meghna Gulzar’s Irrfan-Konkona starrer, TALVAR, which saw a decent 8.50 crore weekend (to be validated) has surprised with an inspired run even during the weekdays. However, the film will have to sustain during the coming week (s) to end up as a successful venture, as it has a total investment of 22-23 crore.
